There has been a considerable amount of shifting across lux Italian fashion houses over the past 24 hours.

It started with Robert Cavalli, which named Peter Dundas as its new Creative Director, effective immediately -confirming months of circulating rumours. The high end Italian label poached the Norwegian designer from Emilio Pucci, another high end Italian label, where Dundas served as Creative Director since 2008. He bowed out in style, presenting his final collection for Pucci earlier this month.

Pucci wasted no time replacing Dundas, filling his vacancy some hours later with Massimo Giorgetti, the Italian designer behind Italian label MSGM. Giorgetti will begin in his new role come April, presenting his first collection during Milan Fashion Week in September this year, the same time as Dundas will show his first collection for Roberto Cavalli.

A statement from Emilio Pucci said of the 37-year old designer “Massimo Giorgetti embodies the entrepreneurial spirit and ingenuity of a new breed of designers. Hailed by the international press as one of Italy‘s most talented young designers, Giorgetti emerged on the fashion scene with a maverick aesthetic that gravitattes towards irreverent, joyful prints and bold colour.”

For Dundas, his move to Cavalli is a return, having been Chief Designer from 2002 to 2005, before moving to work as Creative Director at Emanuel Ungaro and subsequently joining Pucci, which is owned by LVMH.

“The choice of Peter Dundas was made with the desire to evolve a style that combines glamour, tradition and innovation, recognised worldwide as the signature of Cavalli since the birth of the house.” Roberto and Eva Cavalli said of the news.

Dundas also commented, citing “This is a homecoming for me. It is an honour for me to continue to evolve the wonderful world of Roberto Cavalli and I am very excited by the possibilities and potential of this unique brand. I cannot wait to get started.”
