Discounter Aldi have become the latest grocer to join the budget tablet bandwagon with its launch of the Medion Lifetab E7316.

The £79 device, which will be sold from 8 December, features 8GB of storage and a screen resolution of 1024×600.

Powered by Android‘s 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system on a 1.6GHz quad-core CPU, the 7” tablet has front and rear facing cameras.

The device, which is listed as a SpecialBuy on Aldi‘s website, comes with a range of pre-installed apps and Kaspersky Tablet Security for 30 days. Battery life last four hours.

The move follows Tesco‘s foray into the market with the £119 Hudl tablet in September while Argos unveiled its Mytablet device in October.
