A charity bike ride for retail property professionals, CYCLE TO MAPIC launched in London last week.

The journey takes place on 9-12 November and lasts for 500kms beginning at fashion powerhouse Milan, via San Remo, to Cannes on the French Riviera.

The bike ride follows the same format as the hugely successful CYCLE TO MIPIM, but is a third of the distance and completed in half the time. The ride aims to give retail professionals the opportunity to network and have fun at the same time.

Concluding at Cannes, the riders will then attend the MAPIC event which provides the opportunity to present projects to key decision-makers and close deals with the industry‘s most dynamic retailers and investors.

Tom Starr, partner at RLB and finisher of six CYCLE TO MIPIMs, said: “Great friendships are made on the ride. Cycling really is the new golf, only it‘s much more sociable. These rides are the nearest an amateur will get to the professional cyclist‘s experience.”

Professionally-run, the event gives the riders the same experience as an elite cyclist with full support crew, motorbike outriders and mechanics present throughout.

Its purpose is to provide an opportunity for riders to network on their bikes on their way to MAPIC, a key meeting point for retailers looking for partners, and property developments looking for retailers.

Since CYCLE TO… started, it has raised an admirable £1.5 million in grants for charities with two thirds of the money raised going to the children‘s charity Coram.
