Soft drinks group A.G. Barr - the company behind brands such as IRN-BRU and Rubicon - has appointed Stagecoach Group Finance Director, Martin Griffiths, as independent Non-Executive Director.
Griffiths, who is also a Non-Executive Director of recruitment firm Robert Walters, retired from the board at Troy Income & Growth Trust yesterday.
Meanwhile, A.G. Barr has announced that James Espey, who has been a Non-Executive Director of the company since 1999, will step down at the end of January 2011.
Ronnie Hanna, Chairman of A.G. Barr, commented: “I am delighted to welcome Martin Griffiths to our board. He brings a wealth of experience which will complement the balance of the board.
“At the same time on behalf of the board I would like to thank James Espey for his much valued contribution as a Non-Executive Director of A.G. Barr over the last 11 years.
“During this period the company has expanded significantly and James has contributed to this with his wide ranging consumer goods experience and unique insight.”
A.G. Barr is set to announce its interim financial results for the six months to the end of July on September 28th 2010, and is confident of a positive set of figures.
A statement from the company in July said: “Sales growth continues to be delivered across all our core brands with strong performances from IRN-BRU, Barr and particularly Rubicon.
“We are supporting this growth with marketing investment in our key brands and also at the point of purchase.”
