Paul Little, Managing Director of international supply chain company Toll Group, is to step down in 2012 after more than 25 years at the firm.
Australian based Toll has become one of Asia’s most successful logistics operators following the Little-led management buyout in 1986.
Toll will now spend the two years until Little’s departure search for the correct candidate to take over the role.
Chairman of Toll Group Ray Horsburgh AM said: “Paul is one of Australia’s most respected business figures.
“Paul’s orderly transition is particularly timely given the board has recently formulated the company’s five-year strategic plan.
“A new Managing Director will bring fresh focus to the company as we move through the five-year performance challenges outlined in this plan.”
Little will continue as a non-executive after the management transition and wants to continue to help Toll expand and improve its operations.
“By early 2012 I will have had 26 years as the CEO at Toll. I am passionate about the company, the nature of the business, the people and its culture,” explained Little.
“I would love to do this job forever but of course that’s not possible and after consideration it is clear this is the ideal time for a changeover at the top.
“This process is entirely consistent with the strong Toll culture. Indeed it will underline the company’s long-term stability and continue its focus on strong growth within the global logistics industry.”
