Asda has recruited Sainsbury’s Clothing Director Sara Bradley to become its new Head of Buying for Menswear and Childrenswear for its George division.
She will replace Kerry Pallin, who is set to take on the newly created role of Head of Procurement Planning at the clothing arm of the supermarket’s business in May 2011.
Pallin will work under Nick Jones, who will start his Merchandising, Supply and Sourcing Director role at George when he arrives from Marks & Spencer in January.
Commenting on the new appointments, Managing Director of George Andrew Moore said: “These appointments will significantly strengthen our business and support the implementation of our five-year plan to double George sales by 2016.”
Sainsbury’s also revealed today that its Director of General Merchandise, Adrian Mountford, will be leaving to become Commercial Director of clothing and homeware retailer Matalan.
A statement from a Sainsbury’s spokesperson defended the surprise departures, saying: “The two moves are unrelated, and this happens from time to time as we are in an industry where people move around.
“We have a great team in place and our investment in non-food continues at great pace.
“A search is underway to fill their positions.”
