Health and beauty retailer Superdrug has teamed up with No1 Currency to offer customers an in-store bureau de change for the first time.
The retailer’s outlet in Parker Street, Liverpool will now provide shoppers with the chance to purchase all major currencies, while an order and collect service will give them access to over 70 more currencies.
With Liverpool progressing to the Europa League knock-out stages last night after a 1-1 draw with Romanian side Steaua Bucharest, there is likely to be some demand from football fans on Merseyside for European currencies in the new year.
Russian team Dynamo Moscow, German side Bayer Leverkusen and Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven are among the teams the Merseysiders could draw in the next round, which would require fans to exchange their sterling.
Commenting on the new service at Superdrug, the retailer’s Parker Street store manager Brian Thompson said: “We already offer all the products a holiday maker needs to have a great trip, from sun care to sunglasses.
“Our pharmacists offer on the spot holiday health advice and now with the travel money offer we really are a one stop shop for busy travellers.”
Bureau Manager at the shop Michael O’Dea added: “Our aim is to not only give customers a fantastic rate but also the right kind of advice on which currency they need, how much to take and the cost of living at their destination.”
