Fashion retail chain New Look is to use the DigiPoS Retail Blade POS system in its existing and new store formats across the UK, Ireland and Europe.
The system incorporates the TSP650 thermal receipt printer from international printer manufacturer Star Micronics EMEA which is capable of printing at a rate of 150mm per second.
Simon Martin, Director and General Manager at Star Micronics EMEA, told Retail Gazette: “Star Micronics is delighted New Look has selected the TSP650 for its stores.
“This is the result of a successful relationship developed with New Look and further reinforces Star’s presence within the retail sector following installations within a number of major high street retailers including Benetton UK and Clinton Cards.”
Geoff Gardner, Head of IT at New Look, said the retailer has been “very pleased with the performance of the TSP650”, adding that the product has successfully been integrated into the DigiPos Retail Blade POS system.
The tie-up with DigiPoS and Star Micronics is the latest move by New Look to update technology in its stores.
In November, the company’s flagship store in the Republic of Ireland implemented new display technology to help catch consumers’ attention when they visit the shop.
The Dublin outlet, which recently opened in the city’s Jervis Centre, installed tech provider Christie’s MicroTiles solution to help promote its range of products and prompt customers to move around the store.
Multimedia solutions provider Mood Media Corporation, which supplied the animated content that is broadcast through the MicroTiles, said it marked the first time this technology has been used by a fashion retailer in the UK or Ireland.
