Sports and leisure retailer Snow+Rock has hired experienced industry man Neil McCausland as its new non-executive Chairman, it was confirmed today.
McCausland is also the Chairman for fellow retailers TJ Hughes, Dwell and Kurt Geiger and was Managing Director of the now non-existent C&A for a year until 2000.
He has previously specialised as a turnaround CEO but has since held numerous non-executive roles in branded retail.
Dion Taylor, CEO of Snow+Rock, commented: “We’re delighted to have found Neil as Chairman for the business, as someone who is not only a great retailer but also who understands specialist retail.
“Neil is a very experienced multichannel retailer, who brings a breadth of experience in developing retail brands.
“He will be able to add significant value to the business as we continue to develop our different specialist brands, broaden our multichannel offering and roll-out new stores.”
Primarily focused on winter sports and outdoor equipment and clothing, Snow+Rock has been carving out a niche for itself in the UK market.
It also runs the CycleSurgery and Runners Need stores for cycle and running products respectively and has a total of 37 retail outlets and three separate online stores.
Niche services in the sports retail sector will became increasingly in demand in this competitive market, and Snow+Rock looks well set with its bespoke offers.
McCausland said: “Snow+Rock is a fabulous brand, with a reputation built on high quality product and service, and one that I have admired for some years.
“I believe it has huge potential, especially when coupled with the cycling and running brands to offer true specialist sports retailing. I am very excited about the opportunity to work with Dion and his team to help drive forward the business.”
