Supergroup, international fashion retailer and owner of fashion brand Superdry, has recorded a huge 86.9 per cent increase in total group sales during it third quarter, it was reported today.
Group sales reached £81.7 million in the three months to January 30th with retail sales jumping 91.8 per cent year-on-year to £61.4 million, thanks in large part to a busy Christmas trading period in the UK.
In the first nine months of the retailer’s financial year retail sales have grown 81.7 per cent and total group sales have risen 74.7 per cent compared to its previous year, totalling £172 million.
Julian Dunkerton, CEO of Supergroup, commented: “Such strong results combined with our continued UK roll-out, further expansion across Europe and additional store openings in the Far East, US, Australia and the UAE demonstrate the continued global potential of our brand.”
Six new stores were opened in the UK during Q3, key locations secured including London’s Westfield Centre, Manchester’s Trafford Centre and Glasgow’s Enoch Centre, bringing its total of fully-owned outlets in the country to 59.
The group has also recently acquired its previous franchise and distribution partner in France and Benelux CNC Collections BVBA, which will help increase its presence in Europe.
Its wholesale division opened a further 15 franchise stores in Q3 in countries across the globe including Australia, USA, France and South Korea, and the division saw sales grow 73.3 per cent during the period.
Dunkerton added: “Our acquisition of CNC provides an exciting opportunity to further accelerate our European expansion over the coming years.”
Supergroup previously highlighted the success of their Christmas period, posting a 93.6 per cent year-on-year jump in retail sales in the nine weeks to January 2nd.
