Global supply chain solutions company, Damco, announced today that it has appointed John McKail as its Head of Field Sales for northern UK.
McKail joins the company from Logistics firm Agility where he was National Sales Director, having joined in 2004 as UK Strategic Accounts Director before progressing up to Regional Director in 2005, and finally moving to National Sales Director in 2007.
Mr McKail also founded logistics and recruitment company Pro-Ex solutions in 2010.
He brings a wealth of knowledge to the already well established firm and Damco was impressed by his track record of producing successful sales teams, mentoring and delivering consistent results.
McKail commented: “Damco is a well established and recognised market leader within the global freight forwarding and supply chain logistics markets. I relish the challenge of my new appointment and look forward to contributing to the future success of the organisation.”
Damco recently tried to attract retailers as customers by providing 20 per cent lower landed costs as well as providing security for sourcing from overseas.
Richard Morgan, UK and Ireland Chief Commercial officer, said: “John is a great addition to our Commercial Management Team.
“I strongly believe that we can greatly improve on our existing presence in the Northern half of the UK and John’s expertise and network in that area will be invaluable in ensuring we meet our aspirations.”
Damco is the logistics arm of A.P Moller Maersk group and started trading under the Damco name in 2009. The company provides its services to 280 countries and manages 2.6 million tonnes of freight using both air and sea freight.
The appointment comes at a time when some big changes are taking place in the supply chain sector. Recently DHL have joined up with Don-Bur to deliver energy saving transportation and European supply chain provider Wincanton announced plans to extend its UK operation.
