Fashion and homeware retailer Next has signed a 15-year lease on a 122,519 sq ft warehouse in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

The facility at the West Moor Park development in the town has been let by global commercial property group CB Richard Ellis (CBRE), completing the full occupation of the distribution site.

Next joins furniture specialist Ikea and global businesses Fellowes and the Scotts Company as residents at the CBRE location, and will use the warehouse to store its range of homeware products.

Last month the retailer reported robust trading for its home department for the period between August 1st and December 24th, with its nine new home standalone stores performing particularly well during that time despite overall retail sales declining three per cent year-on-year.

Roger Haworth, Senior Director at CBRE in Sheffield, said: “To have achieved full occupation of the speculatively developed accommodation at West Moor Park is excellent news for both the scheme and the broader region.”

Securing Next as a tenant comes soon after CBRE helped complete other retailer-property deals in the region, such as Debenhams’ tenancy at Sherburn Distribution Park in Leeds, Amazon at Vulcan in Doncaster and Asos.com at Crossflow, Barnsley.

Haworth continued: “2010 brought a host of major deals to large retailers who have snapped up large, modern 400,000 sq ft plus accommodation.

“These high take-up levels will now pave the way for pre-let deals to emerge throughout the next 12 months, improving the prospects for new development within the Yorkshire region.”
