Retail property specialists REALM has today announced the appointment of two new shopping centre managers at the Freeport centres in Braintree and Talke.
The new centre manager in Braintree will be established retailer Paul McCarthy who joins the centre from Heathrow airport.
At the Talke centre the new manager is Jon Abbott, who spearheaded Marks and Spencer’s acquisition of the Simple Food programme.
Mr McCarthy has held many senior commercial roles at Heathrow and has recently been working for a specialist retail consultancy. He joins the centre at an exciting time as the centre is planning many new tenants throughout 2011.
Speaking about his appointment Paul McCarthy said: “Customers know that outlet shopping offers huge bargains and Freeport Braintree is home to a great mix of top quality brands offering extraordinary value.
“I look forward to leading the team here to ensure that we consistently provide a great trading environment that enables our retailers to do what they do best.
“Since opening the Outlet Shopping Village has made a significant contribution to the local economy and I want to make sure that we carry on working with the community to further develop this.”
Acording to Realm the appointment of Jon Abbott will only be temporary to help guide the centre through a £2million remodelling plan which includes the Nike Factory store among others renovations.
Abbott said: “I am delighted to join the Freeport Talke team at such an exciting time and look forward to continuing the fantastic progress that has already been made at the centre.”
The announcement of the new appointments ties in with the Colliers International study last month that showed a higher level of investment is expected in shopping centres during 2011.
