Alex Gourlay, CEO of Alliance Boots’ health & beauty division, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised twice in this prestigious listing, and for Boots Opticians to have been ranked in first position is just outstanding.

“At Boots we truly believe in our businesses having the most empowered and engaged teams. Through this engagement we can be confident that our colleagues can deliver the products and customer care that makes the Boots brand one of the most trusted in the UK.”

The Sunday Times survey ranks companies according to responses given by staff members and information supplied by the firms themselves.

Iceland finished sixth due its the stress-free working environment and favourable benefits and pay, whilst Mothercare ranked eighth after employees praised its generous maternity package and its £150,000 annual social budget.

Best Buy UK, the joint partnership between Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy, was the highest new entry into the list at 12th, with staff happy about the inclusive nature of its management and its high level of service.
