The Range rolls out first national TV ad


Home, leisure and garden product retailer The Range has launched its first national TV advertising campaign.

Starring Royle Family actor Ricky Tomlinson and created by Koala TV, the ads are summer-focussed and call on people to spruce up their homes and garden in time for better weather later this year.

Two different ads make up the campaign, which will run on Channel 5, ITV and selected satellite channels including ITV2 and ITV3.

It comes after Sports Direct revealed last week that it will be launching its largest TV ad campaign in collaboration with Mood Media Corporation, and Marks & Spencer rolled out its latest celebrity-heavy advertising drive, starring Jamie Redknapp and Lisa Snowdon.

Chris Dawson, owner and founder of The Range, which now boasts 51 stores across the UK, also makes a cameo appearance in his company’s marketing campaign.

Dawson said that the new ads aim to highlight his company’s position as “the one-stop shop for everyone wanting to brighten up their homes and gardens this summer”.

“The latest ads showcase our huge savings across designer interiors and garden furniture - we’ve enjoyed working with Ricky Tomlinson once again,” he added

Last November The Range opened its 49th store, in Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset, and the company revealed at the time that is plans to increase its store network further in the year ahead.

Dawson indicated that eight more stores would be opening in the next 12 months, meaning The Range should boast a portfolio of almost 60 outlets by the end of 2011.
