Department store group John Lewis has recruited Paul Coby as its new IT Director, effective from March 21st.
Coby will arrive from British Airways, where he has been Chief Information Officer for the last ten years.
At BA his responsibilities included IT strategy, design, development and operations, and John Lewis will be hoping its technology offering takes off under his leadership.
Managing Director of John Lewis Andy Street, whom Coby will report to, said: “Paul’s record at British Airways speaks for itself.
“He’s a heavyweight in the IT industry, and therefore it is excellent news that he is joining our business to help us realise our ambition to become a leader in technology.”
It is one of a number of new appointments made by John Lewis recently, with Simon Fowler set to become Managing Director of its flagship Oxford Street store on March 6th, replacing Noel Saunders who will be in charge of the retailer’s new Stratford outlet in east London.
Street added: “We all look forward to welcoming Paul and to seeing the benefit of a dedicated IT Director in John Lewis.”
