High end women’s fashion brand Eileen Fisher is set to open two retail outlets in the UK later this year.
The move is expected to represent the start of a wider expansion plan for the company on this side of the Atlantic and comes at a time when an increasing number of US retailers are choosing to open stores across Britain.
Clothing specialist Hollister and electricals retailer Best Buy, are among some of the established US brands to embark on aggressive growth strategies in the UK in the last year, with the latter opening two stores - in Bristol and Hayes - this month alone.
Eileen Fisher has chosen to open a 2,750 sq ft store at St Martin’s Courtyard in London’s Covent Garden this summer, while a second shop will appear on Marylebone High Street in early autumn.
Commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) acted as an adviser to both the landlords and retailer during the contract negotiations.
Duncan Gilliard, senior surveyor at C&W, said: “With demand for prime retail property in central London being at an all-time high, these are very desirable stores.”
Established in 1984, Eileen Fisher currently has 55 stores in 18 states across the US, but it is hoping to reach an even wider audience with its move into the UK.
Karen Gray, the retailer’s Director of Stores, added: “We look forward to joining the London community and serving our existing customers, who we know are already shopping our collection in the US and to welcoming many new customers who we believe will resonate with our design values.”
