Cold storage and distribution provider Yearsley Group has named Mark Haslam as its new Head of Logistics.

He joins the company from his role as Managing Director at transport operations firm Sutton Group.

Yearsley Group delivers frozen food products into many of the UK’s major grocers, including the top four supermarkets Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, Morrisons, as well as Iceland, Farmfoods and Nisa.

The company is currently following a strategy of supply chain optimisation and cost reduction, and Haslam’s strong track record in the supply chain sector will aid these plans.

Haslam commented: “I’m delighted to have the chance to build upon the great work Yearsley Group is doing in terms of consolidation and efficiency.

“The industry is fast moving towards this model as manufacturers are keen to cut food miles by delivering into one hub, and retailers prefer to reduce the number of deliveries into their stores with mixed loads.

“I will be leading an experienced team of logistics professionals to identify further opportunities for consolidation and optimise the efficiency of our delivery management, providing savings across the supply chain.”

Haslam will be based at Yearsley’s Heywood headquarters in Greater Manchester, and brings with him 20 years of experience in the logistics industry.

Former employers of his include Wincanton and TDG, the latter of which was recently acquired by Norbert Dentressangle as part of the France-based company’s UK expansion strategy.
