Lloydspharmacy aims to boost sales with new website

Community pharmacy and health & beauty retailer Lloydspharmacy has today launched a new website that it hopes will fuel growth in its online sales.

The new portal sells more than 6,000 health & beauty items and aims to engage users with a regular newsletter and by displaying product reviews and ratings.

E-commerce solutions provider Salmon worked alongside Lloydspharmacy to build and integrate the new website and will continue to support and manage the development of the portal going forward.

Ros Hunt, Head of Online at the retailer, commented: “E-commerce is a very important focus for Lloydspharmacy.

“Improving access to affordable healthcare is core to our business and our online site allows us to offer more products and services to more people.”

Multichannel development at Lloydspharmacy’s comes at a time of huge change at the company, with Tony Page and Jeff Wemyss appointed as Managing Director and Head of Retail respectively earlier this year.

When assuming their roles both acknowledged the huge potential for growth at the retailer, and with e-tail sales across the retail industry continuing to increase year-on-year, getting the online offering right will be crucial for expanding the business.

Hunt added: “Over the past two years we have seen visitors to our site increase by a staggering 80 per cent and we expect our new website with its enhanced functionality to support further growth.

“The retail website will provide customers with a fantastic online shopping experience with Lloydspharmacy.”

Launching alongside the retail site today is the Lloydspharmacy Online Doctor portal, which provides a variety of patient services such as diabetes and asthma clinics, and advice on sexual health issues.
