Telecommunications firm Everything Everywhere has announced the appointment of Olaf Swantee as its new CEO today, following the resignation of previous boss Tom Alexander.
Alexander had been CEO of the firm since its creation 12 months ago and before that had held the same position at Orange UK, one half of the merger that created Everything Everywhere along with T-Mobile UK, since 2008.
Growth for the firm has been fairly rapid in its short life and last month Alexander announced ambitious expansion plans for the company’s 750-strong retail store portfolio by adding 30 new outlets branded under the new company name.
“It’s been my privilege to serve Everything Everywhere these past 12 months, and Orange before that,” Alexander explained.
“I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished: we conducted a rapid integration of the new company, completing a companywide restructuring, and maintained good commercial momentum throughout, delivering record retention levels and growth on our contract customer base across both brands.
“There is never an easy time to leave a company that you care deeply for but, for personal reasons, I feel now is a good moment to step back.”
He welcomed Swantee’s appointment and said he would make and “excellent CEO” due to his deep knowledge of the industry and this particular business.
Swantee is currently France Telecom’s Executive Vice President for Operations in Europe (except France), has worked with Orange since 2007 and has been an Everything Everywhere board member since its inception.
The official handover of the position will take place on August 31st 2011, once Swantee has relocated to London with his family, however Alexander will continue to advise Everything Everywhere after this time.
Tim Höttges, Chairman of Everything Everywhere’s board and Chief Financial Officer of Deutsche Telekom, also backed Swantee in his new role.
Höttges said: “Olaf Swantee has a deep knowledge of Everything Everywhere’s business and has been a director on the board of the company since its very beginning, and is ideally placed to provide both continuity and progression.
“Olaf brings the vision, drive, skills and years of experience to build on the good progress at Everything Everywhere and execute on our immediate priorities, such as providing superior customer service, network leadership, retail expansion and continuing to increase our operational margins.”
