Scottish broadcaster STV has today launched a ‘Daily Deals’ service to exploit the growing popularity with customers of searching for local discounts.
With sites such as Groupon, which buy products in bulk and offer discounts to subscribers to the service, doing a roaring trade STV thinks it can exploit its wide local reach to offer a deals platform for Scottish businesses and consumers.
Initially featuring deals for Glasgow and Edinburgh, its Daily Deals scheme will offer local discounts via daily email alerts, adverts on TV and social media.
Mike Ferguson, Head of Classified at STV, added: “This brand new venture from STV delivers a fantastic opportunity for our advertisers in Glasgow and Edinburgh to showcase their services and share their best deals with the STV audience.
“The service will cover a wide range of sectors and target both men and women, offering great deals for everyone.”
A promotional campaign via email and online, with STV.tv attracting 46 per cent of the Scottish online population, has been orchestrated with the launch and a TV ad campaign will begin in September.
The platform used for the new initiative was developed by US technology firm Analog Analytics which providers the Bigger Better Deal software for many leading media firms.
