Leading UK supermarket chain Tesco has confirmed that its Head of Clothing, Richard Jones, has left the company.
This follows a raft of management changes at the retail giant since CEO Philip Clarke took charge earlier this year, and Jones will now be replaced by former head of Tesco’s online clothing operation Jill Easterbrook.
The Financial Times (FT) claims that Jones is set to join privately owned Irish supermarket group Dunnes, just two years after he was poached by Tesco from its rival Sainsbury’s.
A Tesco spokesman told the FT: “We are pleased to announce that Jill Easterbrook has been appointed as UK and Republic of Ireland clothing director to lead the clothing agenda both in store and online.
“Jill will be replacing Richard Jones who after two years in the business has decided to leave Tesco.”
Since taking the top job at Tesco, Clarke has reorganised his executive team, seen former Head of Online Laura Wade-Gery join Marks & Spencer, overseen a change of Chairman after David Reid’s departure, and witnessed the retirement of CEO of Retailing Services Andrew Higginson.
Before joining Sainsbury’s in 2003, Jones held various roles at Marks & Spencer for over 17 years.
He has not commented on his departure from Tesco.
