Electricals retailer Best Buy UK is to offer a full range of headsets within new interactive demonstration units for gamers, it was announced last night.
High quality X11 and X41 models from gaming experts Turtle Beach will be available to customers in all of the 11 UK stores and can be purchased online, on mobile and in-store.
Compatible across multiple gaming platforms, the introduction comes just weeks before the eagerly anticipated limited edition Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is launched, and headsets for the game will be available at the retailer in the coming weeks.
Simon Johnson, Senior Sales Manager for Lygo International, exclusive UK distributors for the Turtle Beach brand, welcomed the deal, and highlighted the importance of introducing interactive experiences within a store environment.
“We are delighted to be working closely with Best Buy and are proud to be the exclusive headset supplier to their UK stores,” he said.
“The Turtle Beach booths are a great way for consumers to experience the many features and premium sound quality of the Turtle Beach range.”
Best Buy is hoping to increase its in-store and internet-based technological innovations at a time when competitors across the retail industry are doing the same, and has announced that it is to provide a ‘shop-in-shop’ by introducing a dedicated online Turtle Beach portal via its website.
Offering web customers the chance to view the entire range of headsets, get expert advice and interact with fellow gamers through Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, the development is part of the company’s strategy to improve its e-commerce and social shopping offerings and follows the launch of its m-commerce site earlier in the year.
Commenting on the latest initiative, Gaming Category Lead at Best Buy UK James Cooke said that the new technology would elevate gaming.
