Department store group Debenhams has today announced the launch of an express shopping service over Christmas as the retailer gears up for the busy period.

‘Christmas Express‘ is a free service aimed at reducing the stress of festive shopping by appointing a personal shopper to customers who fill out a questionnaire.

By listing the gift recipients, sizes, ages and budgets, customers can enlist help to find the perfect gift as the retailer seeks to entice workers to shop during lunch breaks and after work.

Launched in response to high demands for gift ideas from busy customers, the service allows personal shoppers to hit the shop floor on behalf of customers and minimise time spent in-store.

Soleta Oliver, Commercial Manager for Store Services at Debenhams, commented: “We are expecting a high uptake on the appointments from businessmen and busy career women who are low on time – and energy – in the run up to Christmas.”

In recent times, Debenhams has re-established its commitment to diversity and now offers personal shopping to blind and partially-sighted customers to improve the service and overall experience for those at various levels of sight loss.

This latest service, which will launch today at all 167 nationwide stores, aims to do the same for all customers.

“People that break out into a sweat at the sheer thought of Christmas shopping have had their prayers answered with this service,” Oliver continued.

“Never again do they need to wander aimlessly through the high street in search of perfect, thoughtful gifts again. They can be all ready for Christmas in less than an hour – without so much as a hint of panic.”
