Furniture retailer Dwell has today announced the appointment of a Director of Multichannel as it seeks to improve its online offering.

Peter McKenna, who previously operated as Director of Bid TV, Director of Direct Sales at The White Company and Head of Home Shopping at MFI, will take up the newly-created post with immediate effect.

With over 25 years of senior retail experience, it is hoped that McKenna‘s knowledge of e-commerce will bolster sales at the expanding company.

Commenting on his appointment, McKenna said that Dwell is an exciting brand currently undergoing a period of growth.

He added: “My job here is to keep on moving forward, the clue is in the name, no retailer can afford to ignore that customers are shopping the brand in every channel simultaneously, particularly in furniture and home where they are not shopping on a whim.

“Every touchpoint is critical in the store and online towards supporting customer engagement. Dwell has always known this and worked towards a positive multi-channel experience for their customers, it‘s now an excellent challenge to extend and build on this as Dwell grows the store estate and the customer base expands.”

In a further sign of the retailer‘s focus on expansion, Dwell also announced the opening of a new store in Lakeside shopping centre in Kent today, which will be the first of its shops to feature new products from its Autumn/Winter collection.

During the opening period, customers will be able to draw raffle tickets in a bid to win £6,000 worth of prizes as well as enjoy exclusive offers over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Next month, Dwell is set to open a 3,500 sq ft store within the Bluewater shopping centre, replacing the current much smaller location. The unit is set to open on September 13th 2012.
