Arts & craft retailer Hobbycraft has appointed ex-B&Q Marketing Director Katherine Paterson as its Customer Development Director as it seeks to bolster its multichannel approach, it has been announced.

Joining the retailer this month, Paterson has previously held positions at Mars Inc and Asda and it is hoped that her experience in brand and retail marketing will strengthen the company‘s online presence.

Hobbycraft has also appointed James Heese, who operated as Argos‘ Trading Director for Toys, Jewellery & Leisure, as its new Trading Director focussing on Sourcing, Buying and Product Development.

Heese has also worked as General Manager of Home Retail Group Asia and was based in Hong Kong, and as such his strong experience in sourcing materials from overseas is set to revitalise the specialist retailer.

Catriona Marshall, Hobbycraft‘s CEO, said of the appointments: “As Hobbycraft enters the final stage of its business transformation programme, James‘ and Katherine‘s priority will be to develop and implement a customer centric multichannel strategy and introduce new product development and sourcing strategies.

“This will allow us to develop a stronger brand identity for Hobbycraft that encourages all ages and abilities to “get crafty” and take pleasure in making things themselves.”
