Ted Baker records strong sales

Fashion retailer Ted Baker has reported strong sales growth in the last eight weeks, it has been revealed today.

For the eight weeks from November 11th 2012 to January 5th 2013, sales were up 20.9 per cent year-on year while average retail square footage increased by 13.9 per cent to 273,340 sq ft.

Pleased with performance in the UK and Europe, the retailer is focusing its efforts on expansion overseas, including building brand awareness in the US and investing in new markets in Asia.

Canada’s first Ted Baker store opened in Toronto in 2012 and the fashion retailer also opened a branch in Heathrow Terminal 3 during the year, while next year there are plans for further store openings in Shanghai.

Commenting on the results, Ray Kelvin CBE, Founder and CEO of Ted Baker, said: “The Group has delivered a good result over the Christmas period.

“We were pleased by the performance in markets where the brand is established and continue to build brand awareness in our newer markets, where we are arresting for the longer term.

“On behalf of the board I would like to thank the entire team at Ted Baker for their continued hard work and commitment over this successful period.”

Full year profits are expected to be in line with expectations.
