John Lewis has announced that over 1,000 applications have been received for 125 jobs for its new ‘at home‘ store in Ashford.

Equivalent to eight applicants for every one retail position available, interest was extremely high to work for John Lewis‘s tenth ‘at home‘ shop which is due to open later this year.

Located on a site close to junction 9 of the M20 in Kent, John Lewis at home Ashford will focus on furniture, furnishing accessories, electrical and home technology.

Commenting on the recruitment process, Rebekah Hawley, personnel growth manager at John Lewis, said: “We‘ve been extremely impressed with the calibre of candidates who have applied for positions at our new ‘at home‘ shop in Ashford and we have worked closely with the local job centre to ensure we have a workforce that reflects the local community.
