Online retailer Asos has announced a sales surge of 49 per cent in the UK for the three months to the end of August.

The fashion brand, which sell over 65,000 products to 7.1m active UK customers, has seen strong growth in Europe as it expands its business.

Chief Executive Nick Robertson, said he was ‘pleased to report a strong finish to the financial year.‘

He added: “International growth continues to be driven by the countries in which we have dedicated websites and in-country teams, and was particularly strong in Europe, driven by France, Germany, Italy and Spain. We also saw strong growth in the US and in Russia, following the launch of our Russian website. International equated to 64% of our total retail sales over the period compared with 65% last year, reflecting the strength of our core UK business during the quarter.”

A spokesman told Retail Gazette: “What we are seeing is improvement in products in menswear and womenswear for the result in price investment in delivery. There is a structural shift going from the high street to online.

“They make it very easy for their core demographic to shop. That is the secret to their success.”
