Fast fashion retailer Primark will join Marks & Spencer and Fenwick to anchor Whitefriars Shopping Centre in Canterbury taking 40,300 sq ft over three levels.

Due to open in summer 2014, Primark will join stores such as Topshop, Next, Zara, Karen Millen and the upcoming Tiger store which will take a 2,700 sq ft unit in the centre.

The centre has 66 stores including nine places to eat and drink.

Commenting on the arrival of both brands, Senior Portfolio Manager for Henderson Shopping Centre Fund Jason Boyce said, “Attracting such strong brands with exceptional covenants is testimony to the strength of the retail market in Canterbury.

“From our perspective, the fundamental investment criteria in Canterbury are sound. Along with a tenant mix that continues to grow in strength, the City is underpinned by a solid tourism trade. With the news of other deals in the pipeline, we fully expect to increase volumes of visitors from within Whitefriars catchment in the New Year when the stores open.”

Primark moves into Unit 1&2 at the entrance to Whitefriars‘ Marlowe Arcade and will replace BHS

Whitefriars Shopping Centre joint agents MMX Retail and McMullen Wilson acted for Henderson Global Investors, no agent acted for Primark and Plus Shops Retail Ltd acted for Tiger.
