Former Morrisons executive George Dymond is set to join Tesco as an operations development director.

Dymond quit his Morrisons role in January just weeks after joining because it did not “meet his expectations.”

Morrisons declined to comment on the move but Tesco confirmed the appointment on Friday.

Before working with Morrisons, Dymond was group general manager of merchandise at Australian supermarket Coles. He also worked for ten years as trading director at Carphone Warehouse.

Morrisons suffered disappointing Christmas trading with sales falling 5.6 per cent for the six weeks to 5 January while Tesco is restructuring its middle management and expects to make cuts to its executive level management this year.
