Canary Wharf Group has announced the first retail brands that will take space at its upcoming 115,000 sq ft retail and leisure development above the new Canary Wharf Crossrail Station.
Everyman Cinema, Sports Bar & Grill and the Mexican burrito restaurant Poncho 8 will be at the six story development in May 2015 three years before the actual station opens.
Camille Waxer, Chief Administrative Officer for Canary Wharf Group said the brands would add “diversity” to the Canary Wharf estate.
Nick Birkett, Co-owner of Poncho 8 said Canary Wharf would become its flagship store.
“We already deliver our breakfasts and burritos to a large number of customers in Canary Wharf from our stores in the City so we know the demand is there for Poncho 8’s product,” he said.
The Foster + Partner retail and leisure development above the new Crossrail Station combined with the recent Jubilee Place extension represents one of the largest retail expansions currently underway in the UK.
