Supermarket Iceland has been voted the best big company to work for in 2014 as it reclaimed the title it won two years ago.

It was the only food retailer to make the top 25 league table.

Iceland, which employs over 24,000 staff, scored top marks in 19 categories including employee wellbeing and employee fair pay and benefits.

“We have always lived by the principle that happy staff make happy customers, and happy customers put cash in the till,” commented Chief Executive of Iceland Malcolm Walker. “Our future success will continue to be based on offering great products, fantastic value and outstanding service.”

Iceland fell ten places in the ‘Giving Something Back‘ category, which measures how much companies are thought by their staff to put back into society and the local community generally, from last years top spot.

Home and DIY retailer Homebase and cycle and car parts firm Halfords made new entry‘s; taking 24th and 25th place respectively.

Mobile phone provider EE, which dropped two places to 20 overall, rose in the ‘My Manager‘ ranks to 12 from last years score of 20.
