The service, which will initially be launched from seven stations, will begin this summer.

Sainsbury’s online director Robbie Feather, said: “We are confident that the combination of Sainsbury’s quality and great service combined with the convenience that this brings will be a real hit with customers.”

The service will be free through July and August and following that, will cost £1.99 if £20 worth of goods is bought. Items can be picked up at Oakwood, Totteridge & Whetstone, Woodside Park, Leytonstone, Loughton, Debden and South Woodford.
