A ‘20% OFF E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G‘ e-mail blast by Asos yesterday morning caused a day-long site outage as the fashion pureplay struggled to keep up with unprecedented demand.

As customers rushed to the fashion e-tailer‘s website to take advantage of a 20% discount on pay weekend, a large majority would have been disappointed as the site collapsed under the pressure.

Asos failed to deliver across devices, as both the site and the app collapsed and users were unable to browse and pay for their items.

The promotion was valid for 24 hours, until 8am this morning, and applicable across all products by all brands stocked on the Asos site.

Asos kept customers updated via social media, with customer service representatives first apologising at around 1pm yesterday citing that the IT team was working on resolving the issues. By 9pm Asos issued another apology for the technical difficulties. There will still problems this morning at around 6am
