John Lewis‘s flagship Oxford Street store is to go under a £14m refurbishment, as the British retailer sets out to offer the largest homeware range on the high street.

The eight-month revamp is currently underway and will be finished by September. Once complete the home department will stand at 94, 000 sq ft, span over 2 floors and include a ‘sleep room‘ for customers to design their ideal bedroom.

It is understood that the department store‘s lighting room will house 650 different models, while the Oxford Street store‘s “living room” division will showcase 100,000 different combinations of sofa shapes and fabrics in addition to a separate rug gallery.

“John Lewis has always been at the forefront of quality and home design”, said Christine Kasoulis, Buying Director of John Lewis Home division.

“We are the only retailer with the breadth and depth in choice and price, brand and own brand mix to cover the everyday to the design classics. Within Oxford Street we will be able to give customers access to the newest trends and products in home design, and exclusive brands and design collections from both the UK and internationally.“
