Last month has been reported as the worst on record for physical game sales across all platforms.

Research by MVC has found that the month of July was the worst ever in terms of physical sales in the UK.

The total revenue was £21.4 million this month, far lower than the previous worst month of £23 million in July 2013.

Despite recent big name releases like Uncharted 4 and LEGO Star Wars: The Force Unleashed grabbing the bestselling spots, sales continued to dwindle.

Pokemon Go and other digital download titles may have contributed to the lack of physical sales, as many consumers choose to purchase new titles from their consoles and download them online.

This comes amid news that physical sales continue to fall in the leading retailer GAME.
