Ian Durant has been named as the new chairman of furniture retailer DFS.

Durant, who is currently chairman of high street chain Greggs and is a former Home Retail Group non-executive director, will replace Richard Baker who is set to depart after seven years with DFS.

“I am delighted to welcome Ian to the DFS board as chairman,” DFS chief executive Ian Filby said.

“His wealth of relevant experience will help drive us forward and continue the progression from being a great British business to a world-class business.”

Baker is moving on to become chairman of the British Retail Consortium, taking over the helm recently held by John Lewis chairman Sir Charlie Mayfield.
