B&Q launches energy saving hubs in Manchester stores

B&Q has opened two in-store Energy Saving Hubs in Manchester to provide support for customers looking to make their homes more energy efficient.

The DIY retailer has partnered with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) to launch the hubs inside its Trafford Park and Cheetham Hill stores.

Shoppers will be able to walk-in or pre-book appointments to use the free service where a specially trained B&Q employee will be able to take a home energy assessment to provide advice and tips on how to make their house more efficient.

The advisers are also able to help with grant applications.

The Energy Saving Hubs are open daily from 11am to 5pm and will be in-store until March 2025.

The initiative is part of GMCA’s Feel the Benefit campaign, which is funded by a £1.94m grant from the Department for Energy and Net Zero, and the North West Net Zero Hub and aims to make energy-saving advice clearer and more accessible for Greater Manchester residents.

B&Q head of services development Paul Carroll said: “Spring and summer is the best time to start planning for the colder winter months, and we want to ensure all our customers have access to the advice they need to help keep their home energy use as low as possible.

“With the provision of in-person advice, in addition to our online and over the phone guidance, we hope to reach Greater Manchester residents who otherwise wouldn’t receive support on energy saving.”
