The opportunity has arisen for an experienced Jerseywear Designer to join the childrenswear team of a market leading retailer, working within their Head office. The role will be working across Baby Boys department and is available on a fixed term contract for 12 months.
Reporting in to the Design Manager you will work to ensure that all designs incorporate the latest fashion trends and meet the customers needs in terms of look, fit and feel.
Key responsibilities to include:
-Managing your workload effectively in order to complete all designs within the desired timeframes.
-Producing mood boards to show the overall vision of your area as well as key design influences such as colour, shapes and style.
-Identifying new design opportunities and presenting these to the team and Design Manager accordingly.
-Working closely with the buying and quality teams in order to ensure all samples and prototypes reflect your original designs.
-Oversee the workload of junior members and freelancers in your team.
-Attending overseas shopping trips and supplier visits
The successful candidate will:
-Currently be working as an established Jerseywear Designer or Senior Designer
-Have experience working in house for a high street retailer, or a supplier to key high street accounts.
-Have confidence when proposing new ideas and discussing products within the team,
-Have experience using Adobe, Photoshop and Illustrator along with other relevant design packages.
-Be educated to degree level, or equivalent, within a relevant field such as Design, Textiles or Fashion.
-Have excellent fabric and trend awareness across mens, teens and childrens markets
