Job Description

One of the fastest growing businesses in the UK requires a Head of Buying. You will be tasked with formulating and executing a full buying strategy, as well as monitoring and outlining a strategy for the supply chain, buying, and promotional activity. The individual will have a very strong understanding of buying processes, sourcing and building a supply base in the Far East, and an attitude which fits in with the pace and culture of this fast moving and growing business. As the Head of Buying, your key responsibilities will include: * Looking after the buying process from cradle to grave in line with the businesses strategic direction and ambitions. * Identifying and building new supplier opportunities in the Far East. * Sourcing, product selection, and negotiation to obtain optimum product, prices and terms of contract. * Promoting and driving products, focusing on market perceptions and reputation, awareness of competitor activity, and accuracy of supply chain and continuity of supply base. * Product development for core and promotional lines, and implementation of a clear pricing strategy and full analysis to support business decisions. * Cross functional communication to ensure the department and business are fully behind and aware of all buying and supply chain related plans. You will have the following existing experience: * Understanding and awareness of the Non-Food/DIY market * Previous experience of working within online retailing * Extensive sourcing knowledge in the Far east * Team player that can buy into an environment where an ability to roll your sleeves up is a necessity * Confident decision maker who has the ability to communicate and deliver decisions effectively * Strong commercial awareness with a flair for seizing new opportunities * A willingness to travel, particularly to the Far East * Natural team leader who can develop and build a team.
