Job Description

My client is a successful retailer going from strength to strength, they are currently seeking an experienced Micro Space Planner to join their head office team based in Scotland. The role of the Micro Space Planner is to provide comprehensive and professional merchandising support to the Merchandising Department, Buying Department and Store Teams. Key responsibilities will include: * Developing merchandising plans alongside the relevant Buying Director, in-line with the review calendar and departmental processes. * Providing the Buying Director with detailed category and competitor analysis to aid merchandising decision making. * Ensuring planograms are issued to stores in a timely manner. Maintaining the store planogram folders, ensuring they are up to date. * Updating existing merchandising plans in-line with the agreed monthly deadlines and merchandising guidelines. * Operating the merchandising systems and ensuring the information contained within is kept up to date. * Carrying out space utilisation analysis (micro and macro space) on an on-going basis to develop category and store level sales. * Competitor analysis and category research using consumer insights data from agency providers. * Liaising with the Marketing Team to ensure the store marketing calendar is maintained with the latest merchandising information. * Conducting store visits when necessary, including visiting competitors stores. To be considered, you must have the following skills and experience: * An experienced Space Planning professional, ideally with at least 2 years retail experience and knowledge of relevant merchandising systems (preferably Spaceman, JDA/Pro-Space). * A hands-on, proactive approach and previous experience within all areas of the retail space planning process. * Ability to recognise areas in need of improvement and have the knowledge, desire and confidence to make suggestions and change it. * High computer literacy, analytical and commercially aware, with excellent attention to detail. * Excellent organisation, time and diary management. Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of work. * Driven and passionate about making an impact. * A confident manner and be an effective communicator with individuals on all levels, with strong interpersonal skills whilst being corporate and professional in your approach. * Educated to degree level, preferably in an analytical or numerical field.
