The former CEO at LK Bennett, Margaret McDonald, has joined fellow women’s fashion retailer Coast as its new Managing Director.
McDonald, who has also worked for Primark, Gap, French Connection and Marks & Spencer, and headed up the Banana Republic buying team when the company launched in Europe, replaces Liz Evans, who has been named MD of fellow Aurora Fashions brand Oasis.
Aurora recently announced it was back in the black after a tough 2008.
During the 11 months to the end of January 2010 the company made £661 million in global retail sales, helped largely by strong performances in international markets and through its online operations.
Web sales have been particularly good at Coast under the stewardship of Evans, having increased by 84 per cent during her tenure.
Coast has also opened 90 stores, including seven in new international markets, and delivered a sustained period of growth in its existing store portfolio with Evans at the helm.
Mike Shearwood, CEO of Aurora, said: “I am delighted to announce these appointments which are a key part in positioning both Oasis and Coast for continued growth and future success.”
Aurora also owns fellow womenswear brands Karen Millen and Warehouse.
