LK Bennett will be the first retail client of eCommerce solutions provider Portaltech to release an iPhone app using PayPal’s Mobile Express Checkout.
The launch, scheduled for September, comes after Portaltech and Paypal announced a new partnership yesterday, which will help the former’s retail clients offer customers a fast and secure checkout experience on mobile devices.
Mark Adams, Sales Director at Portaltech, said his company teamed up with PayPal after recognising that m-commerce has become increasingly important to its retail clients.
“We recognised the need to expand the payment options on our QuickLive m-commerce solution and to find a quick and easy payment solution for end customers that would make payment via mobile, convenient, seamless and secure,” he explained.
Rachel Wilkinson, Head of Brand & Retail at Portaltech, added that the popularity of PayPal meant it was “a must-have feature” of the QuickLive mCommerce app.
Cameron McLean, General Manager of Merchant Services at PayPal UK, remarked: “PayPal sees mobile as the next wave of growth for retailers.
“We have opened our secure payment platform to third parties like Portaltech to enable them to develop innovative mobile solutions for their clients.
“Shoppers can use their PayPal account to pay on their mobile phones, with the same security and convenience they enjoy on their PC.”
Earlier this month Portaltech was shortlisted for four awards by Retail Systems magazine, including Retail Website of the Year and SME Retailer of the Year – both of which are in relation to the work it has completed with LK Bennett.
