Mike Barnes has been appointed the new CEO of US based jewellery retailer Signet, owner of Ernest Jones and H. Samuel, it was announced today.
After spending 25 years at global design, marketing and distribution company Fossil Inc, Barnes will succeed the retiring Terry Burman on January 29th 2011.
Barnes will join the company on December 1st 2010, initially in the role of CEO Designate based in Ohio, before the eventual handover.

“Mike is a seasoned and accomplished manager who with his strategic and attentive outlook to operational details brings valuable experience to Signet.
“He will be an able successor to Terry Burman who has led Signet as CEO for the last ten years and who leaves a strong legacy.”
Starting as one of Fossil’s initial employees, Barnes made his way up the company’s management structure serving as a director, Chief Operations Officer and President during his tenure.
He has helped Fossil expand into other areas of business and was a member of the management team who helped to take the company public in 1993.
