Owner of Superdry brand, Supergroup has posted huge sales increases in its interim management statement published today.
Total group sales for the three months to August 1st rose 59.8 per cent to £32.8 million, retail sales made up £22.3 million of this and grew £62.7 per cent during the quarter.
Wholesales sales totalled 10.5 million which was 53.9 per cent increase year-on-year for the quarter and represents the growing strength of the brand.
Julian Dunkerton, CEO of Supergroup, commented: “We have made significant progress in the period and demand for our product, both in the UK and abroad, continues to be strong.
Five new stores were opened in the UK during the quarter, six other stores launched in Europe, its first Middle Eastern store appeared in Dubai and in the US and a further two stores were unveiled.
Eight concessions, seven of which were women’s, were launched in the period and further UK stores are planned before Christmas one of which is a 15,000 sq ft outlet at Glasgow’s St Enoch Centre.
Dunkerton added: “Our new store design is proving to be a great success, reflected by the strong performance of recent UK store openings such as Lakeside, and we look forward to opening further womenswear concessions before the busy Christmas trading period.
“In addition, our international store opening programme is continuing apace and we are delighted to be launching into many new territories around the world.”
Founded in 1985, Supergroup comprises 47 standalone Superdry and Cult retail store and 56 concessions worldwide.
