Health-food retailer Holland & Barrett launched a new marketing campaign in Ireland yesterday, which allows customers to buy one item and get another one for a cent across all product ranges in its stores.
Running until December 9th, the deal comes in the week it was announced the country is being bailed out by the EU and International Monetary Policy to the tune of around £70 billion.
The Cent Sale involves a TV advert starring TV presenter Gethin Jones, and could be rolled out to Holland & Barrett’s portfolio of UK stores if the trial in Ireland is successful.
Phil Geary, Group Director of Marketing of the retailer’s parent company NBTY Europe, said: “Offering exceptional value to our customers is at the core of the business.
“This latest promotion provides just that, with thousands of own label and branded products included in the sale, giving customers a saving on their regular shop plus the choice to try new products for only a cent.”
Geary also told Retail Gazette today that Christmas is a key period for all of NBTY Europe’s brands, which include Julian Graves, GNC, and Natures Way.
“This Christmas we’ve increased our gift offering at Holland & Barrett, particularly on the beauty side, with our new Dr Organic range offering something you cannot buy elsewhere on the high street - true natural beauty products.
“Since we began offering beauty products that are free from parabens and SLS chemicals 12 months ago, we’ve seen the category grow to more than double its previous size.”
He also revealed that a TV marketing campaign is set to support this year’s Christmas push.
