Discount clothing retailer TK Maxx has this morning announced the opening of new stores in Peterborough and Kendal.
Based on Bridge Street, the 24,757 sq ft Peterborough store will create 50 retail jobs when it opens next spring, whilst the Kendal store at Stricklandgate, also opening early next year, will create 40 new jobs and total 14,000 sq ft of retail space.
Despite falling profits in the first half of 2010 for TJX Europe, TK Maxx’s parent company, 11 new retail stores opened in the UK during the period.
TK Maxx spokesperson Helen Gunter said: “We are very excited to be opening new stores and bringing Kendal’s and Peterborough’s shoppers savings of up to 60 per cent off the RRP on great brands and labels for all the family.”
TJX Europe has also been expanding outside of the UK in recent times, and in October opened two more outlets in Poland bringing its total portfolio in the country to seven.
