Hayley Tatum is to join Asda from retail rival Tesco later this year to become head of its People team, it has been confirmed.
Currently Personnel Director at Tesco, Tatum has worked for the UK’s largest retailer for over 20 years and also sits on the Confederation of British Industry’s education and skills committee.
In an internal email to staff, Asda CEO Andy Clarke confirmed that Tatum’s appointment marks the completion of the retailer’s new leadership team, with major restructuring prompted by the departure of Doug Gurr as Executive Development Director earlier this month.
“Now that I’m able to tell you about Hayley’s appointment, I think it’s important you know that the leadership team I want to take the business forward is now fully in place,” Clarke said.
“It’s the right team for the challenges ahead.”
The other members of Asda’s new executive team are; Judith McKenna, Chief Financial Officer, Rick Bendel, Chief Marketing Officer, Simon King, Chief Operating Officer, Charles Redfield, Chief Merchandising Officer, and Andrew Moore, Managing Director of Asda fashion brand George.
Clarke added: “Along with Hayley this is the right leadership team to take us forward and create the next chapter in the Asda story.
“It’s an executive team that I know has the business acumen, retailing experience, creative flair and passion for the customer that will ensure we continue to win here in the UK.”
