First tablet device designed for retail

A new product from technolgy company Motion Computing is set to be the first tablet device that is hard-wearing enough to be used in all retail environments.

Last week EPOS Partners claimed that iPads could be an essential tool for the retail industry but Motion claims that its new robust CL900 is much better suit for a retail environment.

With a unique ‘Corning Gorilla’ glass screen which is durable and scratch resistant and a casing that is light and protects against dust, moisture and other elements, CL900 claims to be ideal for all settings from the shop floor to the warehouse.

Technology solutions specialists, Box Technologies, has been awarded the only Certified Motion Partner (CMP) for the product, meaning it will be the only provider of in and out of warranty repairs for the tablet.

Russell Wilcox, Chairman of Box Technologies, said: “The CL900, with its rugged build quality, has real competitive advantages and is an exciting addition to the robust portfolio of Motion products.”

“We are excitied about the future and the new business markets made accessible by the CL900 and will be working especially hard to fulfil the technical delivery aspects of bringing the new product to the UK & Ireland.”

The model is already used in a variety of areas from construction to hospitals in the US and, Motion is hoping that the partnership will increase its use in business in the UK and Ireland.

Dave Dooley, Sales & Marketing Director of Box Technologies said; “Being awarded a CMP is in recognition of our longstanding relationship with Motion and of our efforts and abilities in fulfilling and delivering our service obligations to a trusted and well respected partner.

“We enjoy working with Motion and the company brings a unique sense of adventure to the product development process. Our relationship encapsulates the true spirit of partnership and we look forward to working together on the CL900.”
